La Mente Meditante, Art, Science, and an Enlightened Mind

We are pleased to invite you all to this special performance combining meditation, art and science at Maxxi Museum in Rome.

A research project that becomes an artistic performance. An initiative that combines three universal languages such as art, science and meditation and bridges ancient practices and the most advanced discoveries of neuroscience.

La Mente Meditante is an experimental and avant-garde project conceived by the naturalist biologist Daniel Lumera, involving the public of the Museum and many guests, together with the team of researchers of Professor Giacomo Rizzolatti, of the Institute of Neuroscience of the National Research Council (CNR).

Through the most advanced technologies the invisible becomes visible: the neural processes of the brain in meditation are revealed to the eyes of the visitor.

Daniel Lumera, international reference in the practice of meditation, gives life to an unusual performance, entering a meditative state for about 7 hours a day for 5 days, from time to time with guests of the world of art, entertainment, science, but also with the public of the Museum, making visible to participants and spectators, in the form of colors, the four meditative states: focused attention, sustained concentration, deep contemplation and real meditation, highlighting the unique characteristics.
